Review the trend
The 30-day chart shows your BP and weight trend. Share it at your next appointment.
What is a normal blood pressure during pregnancy?
Normal blood pressure in pregnancy is below 120/80 mmHg. Mild hypertension is 140/90 mmHg or above. Severe hypertension is 160/110 mmHg or above and requires immediate medical attention. A single high reading is less meaningful than a trend — tracking daily helps identify true hypertension early.
When is high blood pressure in pregnancy dangerous?
Persistently elevated BP above 140/90 mmHg, especially with swelling, headache, visual disturbances, or reduced urine output, may indicate pre-eclampsia — a serious condition requiring immediate hospital assessment. Do not wait for your next scheduled visit.
How much weight gain is normal during pregnancy?
For a woman with normal pre-pregnancy BMI, 11–16 kg total gain is typical (about 1–2 kg in the first trimester, then 0.4–0.5 kg per week thereafter). Underweight women may gain more; overweight women should gain less. Your doctor will set an individualised target.
How often should I check my blood pressure at home?
For low-risk pregnancies, once or twice a week is sufficient. For hypertension or pre-eclampsia risk, your doctor may advise daily morning and evening readings. Always take BP after resting for 5 minutes, sitting quietly, same arm each time.
Does the app alert me if my BP is too high?
The Janani vitals log flags readings above standard thresholds (140/90) with a visual indicator. It does not send automated alerts — if you record a high reading, contact your doctor the same day.
Vitals Logging is part of the Janani app — free to download on Android.
