How many kicks should I feel per day?
Most doctors recommend using the Cardiff count-to-10 method — you should feel at least 10 movements within 2 hours, starting from the same time each day. The pattern matters more than the exact number.
When should I start counting fetal kicks?
From 28 weeks of pregnancy onwards. Before 28 weeks, movements are less predictable. Some doctors recommend starting from 24 weeks if you are high-risk.
What if I notice fewer kicks than usual?
If you feel fewer than 10 movements in 2 hours during an active period, drink cold water, lie on your left side, and count again. If movements remain reduced, contact your doctor or go to the nearest hospital immediately — do not wait.
Does the baby have quiet periods with no movement?
Yes — babies sleep in cycles of 20–40 minutes. If there is no movement for more than 2 hours during a normally active time, it requires attention. A good kick counter app tracks these patterns over days so you can detect changes early.
Does the Janani kick counter replace hospital monitoring?
No. The Janani kick counter is a personal awareness tool. It complements — it does not replace — formal cardiotocography (CTG) or clinical fetal monitoring by your OBG doctor.
Fetal Kick Counter is part of the Janani app — free to download on Android.
