Fetal Kick Counter

Track your baby's movements every day with one tap. Spot changes in pattern early — when it matters most.

What it does

  • One-tap kick logging — tap the screen each time you feel a movement, no typing needed
  • Count-to-10 session tracking — app times how long it takes to reach 10 kicks and alerts if the session runs long
  • Daily history view — see kick counts across the last 7 days to detect pattern changes

How it works

  1. 1

    Start a session

Tap "Start counting" at the same time each day, ideally after a meal when the baby is active.

  2. 2

    Tap for each kick

Every time you feel a movement — kick, roll, flutter, or jab — tap once. The app counts and times the session.

  3. 3

    Review and share

Your session summary is saved automatically. Your doctor can review the trend at your next visit.

Frequently asked questions

How many kicks should I feel per day?

Most doctors recommend using the Cardiff count-to-10 method — you should feel at least 10 movements within 2 hours, starting from the same time each day. The pattern matters more than the exact number.

When should I start counting fetal kicks?

From 28 weeks of pregnancy onwards. Before 28 weeks, movements are less predictable. Some doctors recommend starting from 24 weeks if you are high-risk.

What if I notice fewer kicks than usual?

If you feel fewer than 10 movements in 2 hours during an active period, drink cold water, lie on your left side, and count again. If movements remain reduced, contact your doctor or go to the nearest hospital immediately — do not wait.

Does the baby have quiet periods with no movement?

Yes — babies sleep in cycles of 20–40 minutes. If there is no movement for more than 2 hours during a normally active time, it requires attention. A good kick counter app tracks these patterns over days so you can detect changes early.

Does the Janani kick counter replace hospital monitoring?

No. The Janani kick counter is a personal awareness tool. It complements — it does not replace — formal cardiotocography (CTG) or clinical fetal monitoring by your OBG doctor.
